The Ocasta Family has been growing and processing coffee in the
Marcala region of southwest Honduras for 3 generations. Marcala, the
only Protected Denomination of Origin in Honduras, is known for it's
exceptional soil, as well as its agricultural and processing techniques.
Finca Cerro Bueno exemplifies the characteristics inherent to the
Marcala region. It's sweet caramel tones are balanced beautifully with the
more rustic smoky notes and it finishes with a rich milk chocolate
The Ocasta Family stands as a pillar in their community and Coffee
Afficionado is very proud to stand with them as partners. Escuela Jose
Omar Ocasta is a local school established and supported by the family.
This school offers children educational opportunities which have proven
to be very valuable. This last year, Coffee Afficionado worked with the
Ocasta Family to provide new shoes for the students attending Escuela
Jose Omar Ocasta. In addition, we have worked to equip and update
several other learning centers in the region.
